Andie MacDowell on embracing her grey hair: "I want to look my age"

The 64-year-old Hollywood star has admitted that she went against the advice of others to go grey, because she "wants to be where I am and look my age". Discussing how it felt when her grey 'do made global news, Andie told The Sunday Times: "I was relieved people weren't cruel.
They could have been mean to me. But everybody was very loving and kind and I was relieved because I really like it. I feel more comfortable.
"The Maid star continued: "People kept saying to me,'It's not time', but I disagreed. I was kowtowing to everybody else's beliefs, but I truly want to be where I am and look my age. " Andie also divulged that she's received more male attention and her dating life has improved since she had embraced her sixties in style and with confidence.
"It's better [dating]," she said. "I might have looked younger and more acceptable to someone before, but I want to be appreciated for where I am, for my age. And the response from men has been, 'You look beautiful'.
I think my eyes look greener and it has made them pop in a way they didn't before. "The actress debuted her striking salt and pepper hair at the premiere of Annette at Cannes Film festival last year, as part of her role as ambassador for L'Oreal. She stopped dying her trademark curls brunette during the pandemic, which she described to Vogue as "a power move".
"My managers had actually said to me, 'It's not time', she disclosed. "And I said, 'I think you're wrong and I’m going to be more powerful if I embrace where I am right now. It's time because in two years, I'm going to be 65.
