Former Love Island star Amy Hart has revealed that she would call in sick to work so she could go to the gym before her stint on the hit ITV show. Amy, 28, made an appearance on C4’s Embarrassing Bodies, which airs on Friday 27 May, in which she detailed her gruelling diet and exercise routine that she undertook before entering the villa, which saw her weight drop to nine stone.
During part of the programme Doctor Anand Patel spoke to Doctor David Crepaz-Keay about the impact that reality TV can have on young people's body image. Amy spoke to Dr Patel about her own experience, saying: "It was pretty extreme actually.

She continued: ”Eight weeks - gym every day, 1800 calories, vegan diet plan, I gave up drinking, I’d call in sick to work so I could go to the gym instead.” Dr Patel asked her: "Why did you think you needed to do that?”, to which Amy replied: "I thought I needed to do that to be attractive to the boys that would be in the villa.” Dr Patel then asked her: “It’s an extraordinary thing - why do we do it?" The blonde reality star answered: “I think it’s because we have been conditioned that thinner is prettier, “It’s completely wrong and there shouldn’t be one body type that is beautiful.” Amy said she wanted people to realise that "your dream body should just be your own body”. Later in the show, she selected six body types to take part in a photoshoot to celebrate body confidence.
Amy appeared on Love Island in 2019, where she was a day one contestant, and first chose to couple up with Anton Danyluk. She went on to couple up with Strictly Come Dancing
