Amber Heard accuses Johnny Depp of sexual assault as he calls her 'compulsive liar'

Amber Heard’s lawyers referred to Johnny Depp as an “obsessed ex-husband hellbent on revenge” and accused him of sexual assault as day one of the former couple's trial began. Johnny, 58, has taken multi-million dollar legal action against his ex-wife, 35, and claims that an article she wrote in 2018 about being a victim of domestic violence implied he was an abuser.The actress penned an article for The Washington Post in which she said she had been the victim of abuse and "sexual violence".
She did not name the former partner allegedly responsible. Despite this, the actor’s legal team claimed the op-ed damaged his career and prevented him from landing acting roles.
In a courtroom in Fairfax County, Virginia on Tuesday, opening statements from their legal teams were delivered as Johnny's stated he was asking for $50 million in damages. Meanwhile, Amber has filed a counterclaim of defamation against the Sweeney Todd star, suing him for $100 million.

Johnny and Amber married in Los Angeles in 2015.The Aquaman actress filed for divorce just a year later.
Speaking to the jury, Johnny’s lawyer Benjamin Chew touched upon the actor’s childhood, and referenced his long-term relationships with Winona Ryder, Kate Moss and Vanessa. He claimed Amber was a “profoundly troubled person” who manipulated the actor, and was often “angry”, taunting her husband who they said would “retreat” into rooms around their home in an effort to get away from her.
