With money tight for most during the cost of living crisis, many homeowners are looking for ways to cut costs on their renovations. Julie Phillips, 50, wanted to give her bedroom a Scandinavian-style makeover without spending a fortune on the job.
One of the main things she hoped to purchase was a wooden headboard, but after seeing them listed for extortionate prices online, she decided to try her hand at some DIY.
Julie cleverly purchased some wood effect wallpaper from Amazon to put on the wall behind her bed to give the illusion of a Scandi-inspired oak headboard. The transformation took the mum-of-two just under an hour and saved her hundreds of pounds, costing just £30 in total.

"The inspiration for the headboard was actually the natural oak interior doors in my home. I just love the look of the natural wood, it’s so stylish and elegant," Julie told Facebook group DIY On A Budget UK.
"I wanted a headboard which was very similar with a Scandinavian look to it. I looked at lots of headboards online, but they were so expensive.
"The oak slatted headboards online I liked was £259 for a super king-sized bed. So I thought there must be a cheaper way to achieve this look without spending a fortune."
As an avid DIYer, Julie loves finding ways to save money whilst decorating her home.
"I started to scroll through the internet, in search of some ideas, when I came across the Fresco Natural Wooden Slats Wallpaper on Amazon, it was exactly what I was looking for," Julie said.
"I ordered two rolls of the wallpaper
