Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large CBS is expanding its representation and inclusion programs to launch a new “CBS Performers with Disabilities Talent Initiative.” The plan, which starts with the upcoming 2022-2023 TV season, is to make sure the Eye network’s programming includes “meaningful representation and inclusion for all underrepresented groups, including performers with disabilities in series regular, guest star or co-starring roles in current series and pilots, playing characters specifically written with a disability as well as roles that do not specify one.” The new initiative comes following the 2019 Ruderman Family Foundation campaign to increase the audition opportunities for performers with disabilities and improve the portrayal of disabilities in television. CBS was the first network to sign that pledge, to increase the number of roles that cast actors with disabilities.

ITV has revealed its plans to reboot the popular talent show set on finding new talent for West End shows. Any Dream Will Do was aimed at finding a new leading man to play Joseph in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest production.

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Comedian Hasan Minhaj is returning to Netflix next month with his latest standup special. “Hasan Minhaj: The King’s Jester” is set to premiere worldwide on Oct. 4 on Netflix. “The King’s Jester” reps the second stand-up comedy special that Minhaj has produced and starred in for Netflix. The latest special, filmed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, features Hasan discussing some of his recent life events. Netflix reports that in the special, Minhaj “shares his thoughts on fertility, fatherhood, and freedom of speech.” Prashanth Venkataramanujam directed “Hasan Minhaj: The King’s Jester.” Minhaj’s previous stand-up comedy special was titled “Homecoming King,” which aired in 2018 and garnered him a Peabody Award.

Henry Winkler joined “Barry,” as the pompous, washed-up acting teacher Gene Cousineau, he soon asked series creator and star Bill Hader, “Am I playing an asshole?” But by Season 3, Cousineau has suffered a tremendous loss — at the hands of Barry — and it’s forcing him to do some deep introspection. “I think the umbrella for Season 3 is, can a person change? It was a question Bill asked me in a scene in Season 2. He’s exiting to “pursue personal and professional interests.” Louis Cato, who has served as interim bandleader this summer, will take over on a permanent basis — and the Colbert’s band, which previously had been called “Stay Human” under Batiste’s direction, will be renamed “The Late Show Band.”Cato will take over permanently when the show returns for its eighth season on Tuesday, Sept.
