The royal family were spotted having several conversations during King Charles III’s coronation on 6 May, and keen royal watchers were eager to find out exactly what was said. Some royal fans have turned to the help of self-proclaimed lip readers, who have offered their interpretations of what might have been said. Prince Harry, whose ghostwriter recently opened up about the process of writing Spare, returned to the UK for his dad’s coronation, and lip readers claimed that he was greeting various family and friends as he entered the Abbey.
A lip reader claimed that as he walked in, Harry said “hello”, “morning” and “nice to meet you” to various guests. The prince also supposedly told Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, that he would be heading back to the airport right after the coronation. Another lip reader claimed that Prince Harry also told Jack he would be back in California “by tomorrow.” Harry left just a short while after the crowning and reportedly made it back to California in time to celebrate his son Archie’s birthday, which fell on the same day.
King Charles III was reportedly much less cheery than his youngest son and lip readers claim that he was complaining as he sat and waited in his carriage ahead of the ceremony. After it was reported that Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton were running late for the big day, royal watchers began to believe that Charles sitting awhile in his carriage was actually an unplanned delay. A lip reader on Sky News claimed that the King was grumbling to wife Camilla and said, “we can never be on time” and “there’s always something” while waiting.
