As ITV continues to bear the brunt of the fallout following Phillip Schofield’ s fall from grace after he admitted to having an affair with a much younger colleague, another prominent part of Phil’s celebrity status that has taken a hit - is his portfolio of brand deals. Throughout the course of his career, Phil was headhunted to front a number of high profile partnerships, selling everything from second hand cars through to craft gins to all corners of the general public.
But since his admission last weekend that he had lied to his bosses about the affair with a This Morning runner, many brands have raced to distance themselves from Phil altogether, with several prominent companies bringing a swift end to any deals they may have had with him. Here, we take a closer look at all of the brands that had have parted ways with the star.
We Buy Any Car Easily the most recognisable of Phil’s brand deals, was his partnership with second hand car retailer, We Buy Any Car. As an ambassador for the brand, shoppers were regularly encouraged to be “more like Phil”, with the brand even running adverts that portrayed him as the “most loved man in Britain.” For five years, Phil was a staple of the brand’s advertising strategy, something which scooped him around £1million per year for starring in the adverts.
However, the brand brought to a close their long running deal last year, when both Phillip and his This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby came under fire for having queue-jumped when visiting the Queen while she was lying-in-state. Youtube ads and online adverts which feature Phil have now also been removed.
