‘Mission: Impossible 7’ first reactions: “Impeccably made” action film that “does not stop entertaining”

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One have arrived, with critics praising the latest instalment in the Tom Cruise action franchise as “incredible” and “exhilarating”.Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the seventh Mission: Impossible film – which premiered in Rome on Monday (June 19) – sees Ethan Hunt (Cruise) confront faces from the past as a new weapon threatens to wipe out humanity.Alongside Cruise, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny and Ving Rhames reprise their previous roles, while additions to the cast include Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, Shea Whigham and Pom Klementieff.Fandango’s Erik Davis described the film as “an impeccably made action film that does not stop entertaining”, adding: “Each action sequence is long, crazy & intense. The story is big & sprawling, but I like how it both felt complete & left you dying for what comes next.”I had the absolute best time watching #MissionImpossible – an impeccably made action film that does not stop entertaining.

Christopher McQuarrie Says 2-Part ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ Won’t Be The End, Already Has Ideas For “What Comes Next”

Next month we’re getting another dose of star Tom Cruise risking his life doing ridiculous stunts for our entertainment with “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” The seventh installment in the Ethan Hunt saga will be one half of a two-part story. However, while the two films had originally felt like a swan song for Cruise’s Teflon action hero, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie is suggesting there is much more gas in the tank.

‘The Flash’ Disappoints With $55 Million Debut, Pixar’s ‘Elemental’ Flops With $29.5 Million in Battle of Box Office Lightweights

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter “The Flash,” a superhero adventure starring Ezra Miller, emerged victorious over Pixar’s “Elemental” in a battle of the box office lightweights. This weekend’s two new releases were once expected to ignite the summer box office but instead entirely missed the mark, as “The Flash” stumbled with $55 million and “Elemental” collected just $29.5 million in their respective debuts. Both of those films fell short of already-low expectations. And worse, they were pricy endeavors, costing $200 million to make and roughly $100 million to market, so they are shaping up to be huge disappointments in their theatrical runs. In the lead-up to “The Flash,” executives at Warner Bros. worked hard to convince the public that the film is “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.” Directed by Andy Muschietti, the story picks up as Miller’s Barry Allen a.k.a The Flash travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder and inadvertently cracks open the DC multiverse. (Cameos abound!) But its tepid “B” CinemaScore from opening weekend crowds suggests that the moviegoing masses didn’t entirely agree with the lavish praise bestowed on the film by the people who made it. Without positive audience scores or strong word-of-mouth, “The Flash” will struggle to rebound in the coming weeks, especially as summer season heats up with the release of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” on June 30, “Mission: Impossible 7” on July 12 and Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” on July 21.

‘Friends’ fans are noticing episode that “replaced” Jennifer Aniston

Friends fans have noticed an episode that “replaced” Jennifer Aniston, more than two decades after it first aired. The hit series ran from 1994 to 2004, and followed six friends — played by Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc — navigating life, dating, work and friendships in New York City. However, this week, eagle-eyed fans of the show spotted that in episode 15 of season nine, ‘The One With The Mugging’, Aniston’s character appears to have been replaced in one scene. In the episode, Rachel runs into Monica’s (Cox) apartment to tell Joey (LeBlanc) that he’s landed an audition with the fictional famous actor Leonard Hayes, who is played by guest star Jeff Goldblum. When the camera pans to Joey, a different actor is standing in Aniston’s place, leading fans to think the unknown character was an understudy or stand-in.The scene was first written written about in 2015 on Recently Heard, which pointed out the continuity error.A similar swap was also noticed in episode four of season nine — ‘The One with the Sharks’ — in which Aniston is once again replaced by a stand-in mid-scene.At around the 13-minute mark, Rachel, who is wearing a yellow top, is sitting at the table in Monica’s apartment before Joey joins them. When the camera moves onto Monica, in the bottom left of the screen a different woman can be seen next to her, who has straight hair and is wearing a blue top.Elsewhere, back in 2021, Aniston has said she had to walk out of Friends: The Reunion “at certain points” because she felt too emotional.

CNN CEO Chris Licht Tries To Soothe Restless Staff: ‘I Should Not Be In The News’

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor CNN chief Chris Licht told staffers Monday he wants to help them make the news rather than being a central figure in it. In the wake of a devastating profile of the CNN CEO published Friday by The Atlantic, Licht set about soothing frayed nerves Monday by telling employees on the news outlet’s regular morning call that “I should not be in the news unless it’s taking arrows for you. Your work is what should be written about,” according to two people familiar with the matter, The words are the first from Licht to be made public since the piece was unveiled. Thanks to a rich vein of unfettered access provided over months, the piece detailed the executive’s struggles — and some of his insecurities — during his first year on the job at the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed news outlet. David Zaslav, the CEO of the parent company, has articulated a strategy of eliminating some of the activist bent that resounded at CNN under its previous chief, Jeff Zucker. But Licht’s efforts to do so have been plagued by near-constant leaks and a restive staff, many of whom remain loyal to Licht’s predecessor, ousted after he admitted to a longstanding relationship with Allison Gollust, CNN’s former chief marketing officer.
