UPDATED with latest: A Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Tuesday ruled that Rust script supervisor Mamie Mitchell can pursue her negligence and other claims against Alec Baldwin, who fired a loaded gun on the New Mexico set of the indie Western last year that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.

It’s been more than a year since the tragedy on the western Rust which saw DP Halyna Hutchins’ life taken after a prop gun, handled by pic’s star and producer Alec Baldwin misfired, also injuring the director Joel Souza; and the Santa Fe Sherriff’s Department has finally concluded its investigation and sent it over to the New Mexico District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies who is reviewing details for potential further charges.

Alec Baldwin has taken to social media to mark the anniversary of Halyna Hutchins’ death, which happened on set of his latest film.

The Alec Baldwin western Rust is set to scout locations in California next week, near Palm Springs and the Nevada border, though no final decision has been made where the Joel Souza directed movie will actually be shot when it resumes production in January.

A new report is revealing that production on Rust will restart relatively soon.

Believe it or not, it’s been nearly a full year since the death of Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” in October 2021.
