Jen Psaki Nails Hypocrisy of Trump’s ‘Back the Blue’ Allies: ‘They Are the Ones Who Want to Defund Law Enforcement’ (Video)

The Cure’s Robert Smith Continues His New Part-Time Job as Ticket-Price Enforcement Officer

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Over the past few weeks it’s been mortifying, amusing and ultimately inspiring to witness the almost real-time reactions of the Cure’s founder/frontman Robert Smith to the hell-on-earth that is the concert-ticket purchasing process — and roll up his sleeves and do something about it. While high prices, availability issues and a bevy of vaguely defined “service fees” could be expected for such box-office record-breakers as Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen, Smith was as surprised as anyone to see the prices on his group’s “Lost World” tour, its first for several years. While the group had managed to avoid such controversial policies as platinum packages and variable pricing, Smith was appalled to see hefty service fees added to the cost of “Verified Fan” tickets, which are intended to protect fans by keeping tickets out of the hands of scalpers, for the tour.

Afroman sued by seven officers who raided his home

Afroman is facing a lawsuit from seven law enforcement officers over him using footage from a police raid of his home in one of his music videos. The officers have alleged that the rapper – whose real name is Joseph Foreman – took recordings of their faces that were obtained from a raid which took place in Ohio in August 2022 and used them in music videos and social media posts without their consent.Four deputies, two sergeants and a detective have claimed that this has caused them ‘emotional distress, embarrassment, ridicule, loss of reputation and humiliation.’ All seven of them are seeking all of Foreman’s profits from his use of their images, including revenue from songs, music videos and concert tickets, on top of the promotion of his Afroman brand and merch proceeds. They are also demanding a court injunction to take down all videos and posts using their faces. The lawsuit names Foreman directly, as well as his recording brand and a Texas-based media distribution company as defendants. However, Foreman revealed in an Instagram post on Wednesday (March 22) that he intends to countersue for ‘the unlawful raid’ and ‘money being stolen’, as well as the damage caused to his family, career, and property. He also explained why he publicised the camera recording in the first place, writing: “My video footage is my property.

Rapper Afroman sued for using failed police raid footage in music videos

Law enforcement officers in Ohio have filed a lawsuit against rapper Afroman alleging that he invaded their privacy by using images of them raiding his house.Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, had his house raided in August 2022 by officers with the Adam’s County Sheriff’s Office. The officers were acting on a warrant asserting probable cause for narcotics being stored and kidnappings taking place on the property. No evidence of criminal activity was found on the property and no charges were filed.Foreman recorded the raid on a series of security cameras on his property and inside his house.Video footage shows police ramming down his door, searching his wardrobe, opening CD cases, and at one point briefly glancing at a lemon pound cake on his counter — a moment repeatedly referenced by Foreman in subsequent songs. He later used the footage of officers searching his home in music videos mocking the situation and questioning the raid.“I asked myself, as a powerless Black man in America, what can I do to the cops that kicked my door in, tried to kill me in front of my kids, stole my money and disconnected my cameras?” Foreman told NPR in an interview.

told NPR of the incident, “I asked myself, as a powerless Black man in America, what can I do to the cops that kicked my door in, tried to kill me in front of my kids, stole my money and disconnected my cameras? And the only thing I could come up with was make a funny rap song about them and make some money, use the money to pay for the damages they did and move on.”The musician, whose given name is Joseph Edgar Foreman, wrote about the raid in several of his songs, including “Lemon Pound Cake,” which opens with they lyrics, “The Adams County sheriff kicked down my door, then I heard the glass break. They found no kidnapping victims, just some lemon pound cake.”In the surveillance footage included in the video, police are shown kicking in the door and walking past the titular cake on the kitchen counter.
