How Prince William and Prince Harry Will Mark 25th Anniversary of Princess Diana's Death

Prince William and Prince Harry are expected to remember their mother, Princess Diana, privately on Wednesday, marking the 25th anniversary of hertragic and untimely death. A source tells ET that the relationship between the brothers «remains strained,» but they are «both dedicated to carrying on Diana's legacy.» The source adds that both William and Harry are committed to making sure their mother's humanitarian work is recognized and they both make sure their children are reminded of their grandmother's memory. Many tributes in memory of the late Diana began popping up on Wednesday, including in front of Kensington Palace in central London, outside her former London home, and above the Paris tunnel where a car accident took her life.Earlier this month, biographer James Patterson spoke with ET about the release of his new book about the royals, and mused on what the late Diana might think of her sons' rift today. «I think she would be saddened by the break with the two boys,» Patterson told ET. «I think that would really make her sad because they had been so very close as kids, and then… Will obviously deciding [that he] must stay with tradition and the crown and the royals, and then Harry making the break.»Even with the brothers' opposing views, Patterson guessed that Diana, who got divorced from Prince Charles in 1996, «would've respected both sides.»«I don't think she looked at the tradition of the royal family and said it's a bad thing.

Venice Review: Mark Cousins’ ‘The March On Rome’

Right at the beginning of The March On Rome, a special screening in the Venice Days section of the Venice Film Festival, Mark Cousins draws our collective gaze to a piece of graffiti saying that cinema is most powerful weapon of all. It isn’t clear — to me, anyway — whether that joyful proclamation dates back to 1922, when Benito Mussolini led a Fascist march from Naples to Rome, or to some other eruption of historical optimism. Cinema isn’t as powerful as all that — if it were, Fascism would have been clobbered to a pulp by Chaplin, Lubitsch and all the other filmmakers who lampooned its vainglorious leaders. But images do matter. They certainly mattered to Italian Fascism.

How to Join the Dots Between Mussolini and the U.S. Capitol Riot in Venice’s ‘The March on Rome’

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor In “The March on Rome,” which world premieres in the Venice Days sidebar of Venice Film Festival Wednesday, Northern Irish-Scottish filmmaker Mark Cousins tracks the ascent of fascism in Italy in the 1920s, and its fall-out across 1930s Europe. He also draws a dotted line from those events to the storming of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., in January 2021. The documentary, illustrated with archive footage and Cousins’ characteristic cinematic analysis, starts with Donald Trump defending his decision to retweet a quote from Italian dictator Benito Mussolini: “It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep.” Later in the film, Cousins inserts footage of Trump supporters attacking the Capitol, hoping to overturn Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

Fascism – its roots, legacy and contemporary manifestations – is a leitmotif running throughout the 79th Venice Film Festival as Italy marks the centenary of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini’s fateful power grab in 1922, in an era when totalitarian leaders are once again on the rise.

J.K. Rowling Explains Skipping ‘Harry Potter 20th Anniversary’ Special: ‘I Didn’t Want to Do It’

J. Kim Murphy J.K. Rowling has explained her conspicuous absence from “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” stating that she declined an invitation to be included in the special. The author of the original “Harry Potter” series only appeared within a few excerpts of “Return to Hogwarts” via segments from a 2019 interview. Her limited presence was noted by critics and audiences around the special’s HBO Max premiere on Jan. 1 this year. Some viewers presumed that Rowling’s absence could be attributed to her troubled public image over the past few years. The author has been mired in controversy as she continues to voice sentiments that have been seen as harmful to the trans community, such as opposing laws that would make it easier for trans people to legally change their gender. Franchise stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have made public statements in support of the trans community since Rowling first faced controversy.

South Park’s 25th Anniversary Concert at Red Rocks Is a Rush, in More Ways Than One

Kyle Eustice The second night of the South Park 25th anniversary shows at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado Wednesday night provided plenty of surprises — even, in some cases, for the key figures on stage, not all of whom had been prepped ahead of time about a crowd-rousing musical cameo from two members of Rush. With an unprecedented number of Kyle, Cartman, Stan and Kenny costumes sprinkled throughout the sold-out crowd, the concert got underway with the co-creators of the Comedy Central animated series (and proud Colorado natives), Trey Parker and Matt Stone, performed a rendition of “Uncle Fucka” that magically brought tears to some of those watching. Despite the expectedly crass lyrics, the song felt more like a ballad, with Parker at the grand piano singing his heart out and Stone on the mic shouting the word “fucka” with the passion of Pavarotti.
