ABC Renews 10 Fan Favorite TV Shows Today!

EXCLUSIVE: One of the longest-tenured ABC/ABC Signature executives, Stephanie Leifer, is leaving her post as EVP Current Programming for ABC Signature after combined 28 years at the studio and ABC. I hear this is an executive move made by ABC Signature President Jonnie Davis.

ABC has passed on its half-hour pilot Josep, starring comedian Jo Koy. While ABC is not proceeding with the existing pilot, the network brass want to get a comedy headlined by Koy on the air. The hope is to redevelop the idea, which is built around Koy playing a character loosely based on himself. It is too early to say whether that will happen and whether the current creative team will remain involved but the intent is to stay in business with Koy.

Disney+ has just announced their third renewal of 2022!

After 35 days of viewing across all linear and digital platforms, “A Million Little Things” is ABC’s No. 1 delayed-viewing gainer this season in Total Viewers (+249%) and Adults 18-49 (+547%), soaring more than six times over its initial A18-49 Live+Same Day rating. It ranks as the No. 1 gainer in Live+7 Day playback on the major networks this season in Adults 18-49 (+133%), tying ABC’s “Big Sky.” “A Million Little Things” is one of only two programs on the major networks this season to more than double its initial Live+Same Day Adult 18-49 rating after seven days of linear playback.“The Wonder Years,” which follows a Black family in 1960s Montgomery, Alabama, is getting a second season.

ABC’s Kay Oyegun drama pilot has found its five therapists. Sendhil Ramamurthy (Never Have I Ever), Johnny Simmons (Girlboss), Rachel Hilson (Winning Time), Demetrius Grosse (Fear the Walking Dead) and Rahnuma Panthaky (NCIS: Los Angeles ) are set as leads opposite previously announced Marsha Stephanie Blake.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is asking for feedback from its members on some of the 2022 Oscars’ most controversial aspects, including the decision to pre-record eight artisan categories and debut a fan favorite prize.The survey, obtained by Variety, first asks seven questions about members’ overall experience at the Academy, including what they could improve upon as an organization and how they could make the film industry more inclusive. The second part of the survey focuses completely on this year’s Will Packer-produced ceremony, which was one of the most controversial to date due to Will Smith infamously slapping Chris Rock, as well as the Academy’s decision to cut several artisan categories, including film editing, score and production design, from the live show.
