The A9 has been closed in both directions after a horror early morning crash.
Emergency services raced to the busy road near the Carrbridge junction, at the Slochd Summit, after the alarm was raised at around 4.15am on Friday, September 30. Officers quickly closed off the road between Inverness and Carrbridge.
Diversions are in place, but motorists have been advised to avoid the area as traffic piles back on the road. Lorries have are being stacked in the area due to a weak bridge on the diversion route.
It's expected the road will remain closed for some time while officers carry out collision investigation enquiries. The extent of any injuries as a result of the crash are so far unclear.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.15am on Friday, September 30, 2022, police received a report of a serious road crash on the A9, near the Carrbridge junction.
“Emergency services are currently at the scene and the road is currently closed between Inverness and Carrbridge.
“Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
