Things aren’t getting any better for Manchester United fans after it was confirmed Benjamin Sesko has signed for RB Leipzig.
United had been linked with the 19-year-old, who has grabbed the attention of a number of top clubs this summer with his performances for RB Salzburg. As well as United, the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid were touted as possible destinations for the promising young forward.
But it’s Leipzig who have won the race, with Sesko signing a five-year deal. The teenager will officially join the Bundesliga club next summer and will remain with Salzburg for the 2022/23 campaign.

Though United didn't seem to be frontrunners to sign Sesko, the links had raised hopes among supporters. Those have been quickly dashed over the last few days.
Having lost their opening game of the season at home to Brighton, fans have been left dismayed by the news that United have made a bid for Bologna forward Marko Arnautovic, as well as agreeing a fee with Juventus for Adrien Rabiot. News of Sesko’s move to Leipzig has done nothing to lift the mood.
Speaking about his move to Germany, Sesko said: “The club’s philosophy of placing trust in young players and playing attractive, attacking football is a perfect fit for me. The city, the stadium and the whole infrastructure at RB Leipzig, as well as the many good discussions with the club, convinced me that this move is absolutely the right decision.”
