A man has appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged dog attack on a six-year-old girl.

A woman who suffered shocking injuries after a horrific dog attack that left her terrified to set foot outside her house and bleeding for 24 hours straight has spoken of her ordeal.
The 28-year-old caregiver from Clayton saidshe was left needing hospital treatment after she was attacked by a black staffy on Medlock Vale in October last year. She told the Manchester Evening News how the dog 'ripped chunks of fat' out of her body and bit her hand, resulting in the tip of her thumb having to be removed and leaving her housebound for days afterwards.
She is now warning others of her experience after police have failed to identify the dog or owner, saying she 'doesn't want anyone else to go through what I have gone through'. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed they had contacted the victim, but there have been no arrests related to the attack.

The woman, who chose to stay anonymous, said she was on a dog walk on Medlock Vale with her friend on October 18 when she saw a man with three black dogs off their leads.
"One of the dogs came running over, and I said to my friend to take her dog because I didn't want anything to happen. But the black dog had no interest in her whatsoever - it just jumped on me and started ripping chunks of fat out of my body," she said.
She told the M.E.N she tried to push the dog off her, and even put her hand in its mouth to try to stop it biting her, but only managed to escape when the dog's owner 'pulled' the staffy off her.
