The most unusual of those names, of course, is Wambsgans. In her TikTok, Kihm goes into the etymology of this very rare German surname, but says the name is actually a reference to major league baseball player Bill Wambsganss. “He is remembered for one thing,” Kihm says, “and that is completing the only unassisted triple play in World Series history.
