Shortlisted in the live-action short category for the 2022 awards, the film uses genre to discuss the way an oppressive society pushes its civilians to police each other, ultimately turning sex into a subversive act.“The Criminals” is produced by Laure Dahout through her French production company Tiresias Films.

Thierry Mugler has died aged 73. Known as the man who came to define Eighties power-dressing, Mugler’s designs were regularly worn by stars including David Bowie, Miley Cyrus, Cardi B, Diane Kruger and Diana Ross, in music videos, films, and on the red carpet. In 2017, The Independent interviewed renowned celebrity photographer Brian Aris, who took one of the most recognisable shots of Bowie in 1992, in which he wears a lime-green suit by Mugler as he leans against a pink door.
Thierry Mugler was a French fashion designer known for his avant garde haute couture, who created designs for celebrities including Beyonce and Madonna.Mugler launched his fashion house in 1974, with his early notable clients including David Bowie (1947–2016) and Grace Jones. By the 1980s, he was a star of the fashion world, and his aggressively shouldered designs helped shape the decade’s aesthetic. Mugler’s flamboyant collections took inspiration from science fiction, 1940s glamour, Africa, and many other elements.

French fashion designer Manfred Thierry Mugler, whose dramatic designs were worn by celebrities like Madonna, Lady Gaga and Cardi B, has died. He was 73. He died Sunday, his official Instagram account said.
