2021 CMT Music Awards: Mickey Guyton, Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert to Perform

NEW YORK -- Linda Martell, one of the pioneers for Black acts in country music and the first Black woman to perform solo at the Grand Ole Opry, will be honored at the 2021 CMT Music Awards.The 86-year-old will receive the CMT Equal Play Award at Wednesday night's show.

2021 CMT Music Awards just keeps getting bigger! Adding to its already-stacked roster of world premiere collaborations, the big event will feature H.E.R., making her first country awards show appearance, performing with Chris Stapleton. There will also be a CMT main stage debut from Ingrid Andress, featuring a world premiere collaboration with JP Saxe.Additionally, Carrie Underwood and Thomas Rhett are expected to take the stage at the awards show.

Some may be surprised to learn that only seven awards are given out during the annual CMT Music Awards. However, country's biggest stars don't gather for a simple, brief ceremony, but instead an hours-long event that's jam-packed with performances from some of the genre's biggest names.
