Ahh, sand. It’s a dream on Instagram, but it can be a downright nuisance in real life.
First it’s blown in your sandwiches, next it’s trapped in your clothes and scattered all over your car.There’s not much to be done about windswept gritty BLTs, but could there finally be a solution to the second issue? Beach Powder is a new talc-free product you sprinkle onto sandy skin and simply dust off, taking all the pesky grains with it. It’s £9.99 a pack here, and comes in either a regular or shimmer version.The product claims to shift sand effortlessly, even when grains are stuck on firmly by sun cream and sea water, leaving skin feeling soft and silky.
It’s won investment from Dragons’ Den, and already has a celebrity fan in the form of Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock who says: “What a great invention! It’s wicked.” Beach Powder founder Stephanie Kelsey was inspired to create the product after family trips to the beach near their home on the Isle of Man. Her daughter would complain she felt like she was being “grated” whenever her mum attempted to scrub sand off her with a towel.
As you’d hope from any product being tipped out onto a beach, Beach Powder is created with green concerns in mind. Stephanie reassures that it’s an entirely natural blend of plant and mineral powders, housed in a recycled cardboard tube, and the shimmer version doesn’t contain any plastic glitter particles either.The company claims one tube would easily last a family of four for a fortnight's holiday, even if you were on the beach every day.
